Installation Manual Parts-Rapido Stand-Alone (DVD version)

From CD-version 1Z01 PartsRapido is also produced on DVD. The DVD version has is own version number of 4 positions. The first 2 positions gives the production year, the last 2 positions give the version number of that year. (f.i. version 0403 means the third version of 2004). The DVD contains all the data of the 5 CD-rom?s.

If  you have a slower PC or less memory you need more time to install PartsRapido and it takes more time to show pictures and HTML-pages during the use of PartsRapido. (To avoid very long installation time see chapter ?Additional information for installation? at the end of this document.
If you have insufficient space on the harddisk you have the possibility to install only a part of the data on the harddisk, see point 7 installation steps.

To install PartsRapido Stand-Alone DVD there are 3 possibilities:

1.    Prepare your PC to install PartsRapido DVD

2.    Install PartsRapido DVD version FirstTime

3.    Install PartsRapido DVD version Update

Prepare your PC to install PartsRapido DVD:

Attention:    If you install PartsRapido for the first time on your PC it is important to prepare your PC for the Installationprogram of PartsRapido. You can do this by executing the following steps. In case of problems with PartsRapido or with your PC you can always repeat this action. The preparationprogram ?FitForRapido? removes first all the PartsRapido components from your PC and after that installs all  the necessary components.

1. Insert the DVD into the DVD drive.

2. Open the Windows-Explorer and select the DVD drive

3. Go to Directory FitForRapido.

4. Start program by double-clicking FitForRapido.exe.

5. The ?FitForRapido Installshield Wizard? starts up

6.  In the first pop-up window you can choose a language, select a language and press OK.

7.  The next pop-up is ?Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for FitForRapido V2.0? , press NEXT button.

8. The next pop-up ?Start copying files?, press NEXT button.    

9. The program deletes all existing Rapido files from your harddisk and installs the necessary tools. If there is a Rapido folder in your Start-menu the program asks to delete it. If there is an Rapido icon on your desktop the program asks to delete it. After that the program scans your harddisk again for more Rapido installations, this can take several minutes.

10. The next pop-up is ?Install Wizard Complete?, press Finish button.

11. Your PC is ready now to install PartsRapido StandAlone  DVD.

Install PartsRapido DVD version FirstTime:

1. Insert DVD into the DVD drive.

2. Open Windows-Explorer and select the DVD drive.

3. Start setup by double-clicking setup.exe.

4. A Window  will be opened where you can choose a language, with this language PartsRapido will be installed and the further communication of the setup will be in this language. Choose the wanted language and press OK.

5. The picture of PartsRapido will be visible and the setup will started. The first Window of the Setupshield will be opened with the text ?Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard of PartsRapido?. Press Next.

6. The next window is the Information window, there you can read the text of  this document. This text is also available on the DVD in Text and in Word format. (Readme.txt and Readme.doc) If you open one of these files you can print it.

7. The next Window of the setup will be opened, its the screen named "Choose Destination Location". You can define here where you want to install PartsRapido on your harddisk. The standard location is C:\Rapido. When you want to change this press the Browse-button. Here you see the same structure as in the Explorer, select here the drive and directory where you want to install PartsRapido. Attention: when you select another drive don't forget to create the folder "rapido". Suppose you choosed to install on drive "D" then select D:\Rapido. When this directory does not exist you can first select  D:\  and after that type in Rapido in top part of the Window. The result is D:\Rapido.
After that press OK. You come back in the Window ?Choose Destination Location?. Here you see again the selected directory, in the example D:\Rapido. Select Next.

8.  In the next Window (Setup Type) you can choose the way of installation. (Typical, Compact, Custom). Select one of the Radio-buttons or the text behind the buttons. Press Next.

If you choose Custom a selection window will be opened. All the checked (V)  boxes will be installed on your harddisk, for all the unchecked boxes Rapido will read the data from the DVD during the use of PartsRapido. On the bottom of the Window you see how many harddisk space is available and how many harddisk space is needed for the selected lines. If you selected more lines than the available space on your harddisk you get a Window with an error-message. Press Next.

9. In the next Window you select the name of the Program-Folder for the Startmenu. The standard name is Rapido. You can select another Folder-name or type in a new Folder-name. If you type in a non-existing Folder-Name the installation procedure creates this Folder automaticly. Press Next.

10. In the next Window you see again an overview of all the files that will be installed on your harddisk. The installation procedure has collected now all the data to start the installation. Press Next.
 
11. After the installation procedure has copied all the data from DVD the following Window will be opened: InstallShield Wizard Complete
       Setup is ready now press Finish button to close the setup program. If not all data (Drawings and Special catalogs) are installed on the harddisk you have to leave the DVD in the drive.

Install PartsRapido DVD version Update:

1. Insert DVD in the DVD drive.

2. Open the Windows-Explorer and select the DVD drive.

3. Start setup by double-clicking setup.exe.

4. A Window  will be opened where you can choose a language, with this language PartsRapido will be installed and the further communication of the setup will be in this language. Choose the wanted language and press OK.

5. If  the setup program finds a previous version of  PartsRapido DVD the following popup will be showed:

Popup:   Question ???

If you choose ?Yes? the PartsRapido DVD will be removed from your PC first, you have to confirm this by pressing the OK button in the popup underneath.

If you choose ?No? the setup program will be closed and the old PartsRapido DVD version will stay on your PC.

Popup:     Confirm File Deletion ??.

6. The program deletes all existing Rapido files from your harddisk..

7. The next pop-up is ?Install Wizard Complete?, press Finish button.

8. You have to start the setup program again now, see ?Install PartsRapido DVD version FirstTime?.

9. After the installation procedure has copied all the data from DVD the following Window will be opened: InstallShield Wizard Complete
       Setup is ready now press Finish button to close the setup program. If not all data (Drawings and Special catalogs) are installed on the harddisk you have to leave the DVD in the drive.
